Intentions- Urban landscapes

The first thing that comes into my head when I think about urban landscapes is buildings. This is quite obvious but buildings are everywhere! The city is also something I think about, with busy pavements, noise and people.
One of the most obvious cities which comes into my head is New York. I've visited the big apple and think it absolutely amazing! The hustle and bustle of the city is what makes it. My first thoughts are the huge amount of windows and the structure and shape of the buildings. I could do fast drawings to create the mood and feel of the city (Manchester)
Travelling back to Manchester from Sheffield. The landscape of Sheffield buildings, shows linear qualities and layers of different buildings. The squares in the far left building interested me as they are at different angles. I'm interested in the repetition of the windows and feel that drawing these over in layers with different media would be affective.
From my summer project I briefly looked at an artist called Alyn Carlson. She creates organic drawings with ink under. I love the colours she uses and the texture she creates by just using watercolour with fine pencil/pen drawings over the top creating shape and fluidity.

I could incorporate a similar style into my work linking it to urban landscapes, with linear qualities and repeat.
