UNIT X- presentation

Charlotte; a print designer from Stella Mccartney came to talk to us about what she designs for the brand, i found this interesting as some of her ideas came from really simple things and these got used in some of the final garments. We then presented our work to the whole group and answered questions about our work.
All the print garments...

I'm happy with the work we have created in group LAA and have enjoyed the project throughout. Working in a group and collaborating has been great. Having two fashion students and me (textiles) has helped me understand more about fashion and pattern placement/print engineering for fashion. it has been hard at times to understand the fashion side as i find it difficult to come up with garment ideas and drawing but Amy and Louis have supported me throughout as have i with them. I've worked out my comfort zone as i've used different colours and styles than what i normally use. This taught me to just go for it and don't hold back. The garment has a fun and quirky feel to it as well as being grungy, this was what we hoped for the final piece. We are now looking forward to setting up all our work in the exhibition and ending first year on a high!

UNIT X- group folder work

During the project we have been adding sheets to the group folder  bringing our work together and making all the work flow.

The line up on this drawing inspired by Margiela shows the different designs using our prints.

The flat bed drawings of different garments show we've looked at different options. We like the idea of changing the patterned panels and mixing it up.

UNIT X- jumper

Finalising the design for the jumper.
 Amy un picking the shirt
Trying out different placements for the turquoise shirt
 Pinnig it onto the mannequin

We preferred the collar standing up so louis sewed it so it's able to stand up.
We liked the fact that the sleeves can be rolled up showing a different layer of coloured fabric.
The jumper has different panels of our printed garment, it shows we've thought about changing the print and engineering it so it works better. This is only pinned and now we need to sew it together!

UNIT X- reflecting on our work so far

A quick feedback session of our work so far...
Deciding what is relevant so far and what we don't need so we can work on it further and progress our garment.
