Sampling: Week one

This week was the start of 'sampling' we were asked to unravel a vinyl box on the wall which had lines cut into it measuring 100m. We had to stick the vinyl back onto the wall to create a different pattern.
I used this to then draw the vinyl. I tried to create the feel of the vinyl by using lots of built up lines to create texture and depth.

After this session we were asked to create our own 100m drawing. I wanted to show layers and depth. By actually drawing individual lines measuring up to 100m I like how accurate it is and shows data. By using a tally I was able to keep track of how many lines I had drawn.
I used pencil, ink and pens to create the different lines. most aren't easy to see as I used a hard pencil. The amount of lines show data and examples of grouping data in two different ways e.g the tally and the lines.
